Why managing your energy beats managing your time...

Reader

You've probably spent a lot of time managing your time. Tracking it, scheduling it, protecting it. And that makes sense — time is finite and visible and easy to measure.

But here's something worth considering: two people can have identical schedules and get completely different results. Same hours, same tasks, totally different output. If time were the only variable, that wouldn't be possible.

The missing piece is energy.

Energy management is the practice of paying attention to your energy — protecting it, directing it, and replenishing it — so you can show up fully for the things that matter. And it's not just about physical energy. There are actually four layers to consider.

If you want to start working with your energy rather than against it, consider these elements:

  • Understand your energy types. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energy all affect your capacity in different ways. When one is depleted, the others feel it too. Noticing which one is running low helps you address the right thing.
  • Work with your natural rhythms. Your energy shifts throughout the day, the week, and across seasons of your life. Scheduling your most demanding work during your peak hours — and building in real recovery time — makes a measurable difference.
  • Start with self-awareness. You can't manage what you haven't noticed. Pick one day this week and pay attention to when you feel clear, when you feel foggy, and what might be behind it. Patterns will start to emerge.
  • Build in flexibility. A system that only works on good days isn't a system — it's a wish. The goal is sustainable productivity that holds up across the full range of your life, not just the easy parts.

None of this requires an overhaul. It starts with curiosity and one small observation.

I help overwhelmed clients ditch hustle culture and design shame-free, personalized systems that lead to sustainable success—without burnout or sacrificing what they love. For me, that means road-tripping with my husband and teens, making music with my family and friends, and inspiring others with my voice. One of my favorite ways to recharge is curling up with a book, an iced coffee, and a cat on my lap. ------------------------------------------- Check out the resources I offer below and request my Toolkit to reduce overwhelm, boost energy, and align your actions with your values!

Reader Does this sound familiar? January felt full of possibility, you set some intentions, and then life happened. Maybe things are going well and you just need a moment to recalibrate. Or maybe those plans quietly dissolved and you've been carrying a low-grade guilt about it ever since. Either way, you don't need to wait for a new year to reset. You need the right moment, and now may be a good one. The halfway point of the year is actually one of the most useful times to pause and check in....

Reader When you think about the clutter in your life (and I don't just mean the pile on the kitchen counter) how much of it is actually weighing on you? How much is it contributing to your stress? Research consistently links physical clutter to elevated cortisol levels (that's your stress hormone), reduced focus, and decision fatigue. And clutter isn't only stuff. It's the mental to-do list that never ends, the emotional baggage you haven't had time to sort through, and the commitments that...

Reader You've probably heard of a capsule wardrobe — a small, intentional collection of versatile pieces designed to mix and match. It's a concept that's been around since the 1970s, and it works because it trades overwhelm for intentionality. But what if the same thinking applied to the rest of your life? That's exactly what this week's episode explores. And once you see it, it's hard to unsee. Here's the core idea: the places where we feel most scattered are often the places where we have...
